Finishing SPC

I jumped on the Blogwagon just in time to lament my leaving of South Plains College. I've made a ton of friends and surrogate family during my stay here. I want to leave a lenghty article dedicated to these people, and the things I've learned here I'm certain this wont be done in one day (I'll put in at the end how long it did take me). To begin I'll start off with professors.

John Sparks (Juan Chispas)
Sparks is an incredible teacher, he makes learning fun and easy without breaking your spirit on test day. He believes in a hands on experienced approach for teaching his Journalism subjects. This professor is very special to me as he has taught me much more than just journalism related information. John Sparks loves God and his students with all his heart and it reflects very much in the classroom. I've spent many a day in his office talking about everything from Jimmy Buffet to how much God loves everyone. I recommend that every take one class of his just to meet this guy, sadly I do believe he is retiring soon. His retirement will be a great loss to those yet to come.

Billy Alonzo (The blur)
This guy is also one of those teachers you really don't want to miss out on! Billy will teach you anything you want to learn about filming, editing, and the production  side of things. He also is a believer in learning hands on and doesn't try to prove he smarter than you by creating difficult tests. Billy works you hard to get you to where you're the best you can be and he pushes you with constructive criticism. He's also quite amusing and banters with the students, very laid back and chill.

Charlie Ehrenfeld (ummm Charlie, or maybe Chawlie, or yankee)
Charlie is a nice guy who I've never had as a teacher, but I work in the communication department so I do occasionally associate with the newspaper people :) . Upon talking more with Charlie I learned that he was the editor of the paper in my home town of Denver City. Shortly after we became friends and I would join he and his print journalism crew on their weekly walk to the Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) for 50 cent lunches. Of course Charlie buys for everyone when its 50 cents. If you like newspapers, you really shouldn't miss out on his Plainsmen Press.

Gary Poffenbarger
I love Gary, he's an english/philosophy teacher with a wonderful personality. I can only wish I had taken him as I never did. Due to overcrowding in the offices Gary had to make a temporary office in the radio production room where I did all my stuff. We became friends and had many great conversations.

Dr. Job
Oh boy Spanish was a real trip with her. Fun, and extremely educational in multiple ways. Not only did I learn the language of Spanish from her, I also learned things about the various spanish speaking cultures.
A 10 hour spanish course sounds daunting, but she made it plausible and effective. (also fun)

Natalie Bryant (Natster)
Crazy goofy and very lovable speech teacher. Natalie will make you enjoy Public Speaking . She's a wonderful person.

Jay Hoes
The quite sarcastic professor who spends his office hours in his office with the lights off. We're not sure if its a hiding tactic or if its just because he likes the dark. At any rate, rarely have I ever seen someone with so quick a quip. He might not say much but if you set yourself up for a verbal take down, he will, much faster than anyone esle. This guy knows what he's doing, so any class you take from him will increase a wealth of knowlege.
Kathy Duncan
Kathy is the wondeful coordinator/secretary of the Communication building. I spent many a day chatting with Kathy when I went to get the mail for Sparks and Billy. She is a wonderful person and conversationalist, AND a very helpful person if you need anything.

Now I shall move on to the Wesley Foundation. This is the place I met almost all my friends. Bible studies, game nights, randomly going out to eat and driving waiting staff in Levelland nuts.
The Wesley is my home away from home, my Levelland family, and life at SPC wouldn't have been as rich an experience without them.

Now for a few funny memories of occurences...

The reason Billy got his "The Blur" nickname by sprinting into the studio and getting a camera into place and making it back into the control room... it took about 30 seconds.

Wesley BBQ night when we played musical chairs.

Trevor Fortner saying "MMM Kinky" after everything at the randomest times.

Walks to the BSM with Charlie and the Press Posse

Figs with Jason

Philosophy with Sparks

Billy and I finishing a Health VNR and making it hilarious with a gallon of hand sanitizer

Diss fests in Staff Class

Going to Amarillo and checking out WT and Amarillo's TV stations

Main Event Mondays with the Wesley group

Teaching Hermes how to play ____ then he wins everytime

Just Dance at the Wesley... it got intense

Making an Epic Christmas Show with Jake Bradford and Julie Fisher (found on my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/reivaylor)

And many more that I can't remember.

The last 2 years have been amazing and these are the people responsible. I will truly miss this place and the people I'm leaving behind. I can only hope that my Journey in San Angelo can compare. I love you all!
Cheyenne

(ps, it took 3 days)
